Sarah's father was William Crawshaw and her mother was Alice Mather. Her maternal grandparents were Isaac Mather and Sarah Jackson. She had eight brothers and two sisters, named Richard, Isaac, James, Robert, William, John, Peter, James, Nancy and Sarah. She died in March 1847 in Edgworth.²
