Annie's father was John Brooks and her mother was Ellen Parkes.  Her paternal grandparents were James Brooks and Hannah Rothwell. She had three brothers and three sisters, named James, John, Thomas, Mary, Edith and Florence.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven children. She had a half-brother named William.
