Katherine was born in 1634 in Bowden and her baptism took place there on October 11th, 1634.¹

Katherine's father was Sir William Brereton and her mother was Susanna Booth. Her paternal grandparents were Lord William Brereton and Margaret Holland. She had two brothers and two sisters, named John, Thomas, Frances and Susanna. She had a half-sister named Cicely.
