John was born about 1630. John's father was Sir William Brereton and his mother was Susanna Booth. His paternal grandparents were Lord William Brereton and Margaret Holland. He had a brother and three sisters, named Thomas, Katherine, Frances and Susanna. He had a half-sister named Cicely. He died in October 1634.
