Henry was born in June 1846 in Nantwich.1  Henry's father was James Brereton and his mother was Ann Cope.  His paternal grandparents were George Brereton and Mary Jackson. He had three brothers and two sisters, named George, Edward, Emma, Elizabeth and Mary Ann.  He was the youngest of the six children.  He died at the age of 1 in June 1847 in Nantwich.1
