George was born in 1829. George's father was James Brereton and his mother was Ann Cope. His paternal grandparents were George Brereton and Mary Jackson. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Edward, Emma, Henry, Elizabeth and Mary Ann. He was the oldest of the six children. He died before 1841 in Nantwich.
