Mary's father was Thomas Billington and her mother was Mary Brereton.  Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Brereton and Mary Buckley. She had four brothers and six sisters, named Samuel, James, William, Thomas, Jane, Ann, Martha, Hannah, Elizabeth and Hannah.  She was the third oldest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 45 in June 1870 in Nantwich.  She was buried in June 1870 at St. Mary (Nantwich).²
