Mary's father was Benjamin Bennett and her mother was Mary Hewitt.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward Bennett and Mary Hughes. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Samuel, Humphrey, Banner, Joseph, Mary, Priscilla, Maria and Martha.  She was the second oldest of the ten children.  She died at 9 months old in June 1841 in Northop.²
