Ann was born in 1785 in Hanmer and her baptism took place there on March 5th, 1785.1  Ann's father was John Batterbury and her mother was Elizabeth Kempster. She had four brothers and three sisters, named John, Thomas, George, Robert, Elizabeth, Mary and Sarah.  She was the youngest of the eight children.
