Henry's father was George Batho and his mother was Martha Cartwright. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named John, George, Charles, Mary, Elizabeth, Anne, Sarah, Eliza, Martha and Jane.  He was the second youngest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 76 on October 25th, 1898 in Birkenhead.²
