Henry Barns

Henry was born in January 1752 in Haslingden and his baptism took place there on January 10th, 1752.¹

Henry's father was James Mather and his mother was Isabel Barns. His paternal grandparents were John (Old Hatter) Mather and Martha Mather. He had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named James, John, Thomas, Mary, Martha, Alice and Mary.

- Baptised 10 Jan 1752, Henry Barns was the illegitimate son of Isabel Barns, a spinster and James Mather of Haslingden.
  
  The same month as Henry was baptised, James Mather married Alice Cowp.
  
  May 1753, Henry's mother Isabel Barnes, spinster of Higher Sherfin died.
