Ruth was born in 1914. Ruth's father was Leonard McDonnald Allen and her mother was Clara (Maud) Mather. Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Betsy Pendlebury Langshaw. She had a sister named Betty. She was the younger of the two known children. She died at the age of 63 in 1977.
