Annie was born in March 1865 in Saddleworth.1  Annie's father was Thomas Henry Aked and her mother was Margaret Buckley.  Her maternal grandparents were John Buckley and Alice Rhodes. She had a brother and three sisters, named David, Ann, Esther and Alice.  She was the third oldest of the five children.
