Cornelia was born on April 13th, 1873.  Cornelia's father was Jan (Tommie) Thomas Martens and her mother was Anna  Catharina Elizabeth Pretorius.  Her paternal grandfather was Jan  Thomas Martens and her paternal grandmother is Anna Maria Isabella Coetzee. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Jan , Dewald, Jacobus, Roelof , Joshua, Erich, Elizabeth, Anna, Martha and Maria.  She died at the age of 76 on December 14th, 1949.
