Anna was born on October 19th, 1858.  Anna's father was Jan (Tommie) Thomas Martens and her mother was Anna  Catharina Elizabeth Pretorius.  Her paternal grandfather was Jan  Thomas Martens and her paternal grandmother is Anna Maria Isabella Coetzee. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Jan , Dewald, Jacobus, Roelof , Joshua, Erich, Elizabeth, Martha, Maria and Cornelia.  She died at the age of 84 on January 7th, 1943.
