Joseph was born on July 26th, 1713 in Gloucester, Essex County, Massachusetts.1   Joseph's father was Thomas Giddings and his mother was Sarah Andrews.  His paternal grandparents were John Giddings and Sara Alcock; his maternal grandparents were Joseph (John) Andrews Sr and Sarah Ringe. He had four brothers and a sister, named Job, Joshua, Thomas, John and Sarah.  He was the second oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 89 on January 10th, 1803 in New Fairfield (Sherman), CT.1
