Notes: Joseph Andrews' will is found in Essex County Probate Record Book 315, page 191-2. The following is an excerpt from the will of Joseph Andrews: "I, Joseph Androfs [as written], of Ipswich, Husbandman, in consideration of the trust, love and natural affection which I Bare to my eldest son, Joseph Androfs [as written], I give grant (etc) to him and his heirs the Dwelling House that he now lives in, with the land it stands upon together with 30 acres of upland and marsh joining to it, bounded westerly upon Mr. John Cogswell's Land. and southerly upon Gloucester line, and otherwise bounded upon the land of said Joseph Androfs [as written] senr, the said house and Land is situated lying and being in the township of Ipswich in the precinct of Chebacco nigh to Gloucester line. . . [The date seems to be June 12, 1707]. Witnesses: Nathaniel Ruft, Senr, John Cogswell, Robert Ruft. Feb 12, 1724, Joseph Andrews acknowledges this instrument to his Act and Deed, before Symonds Epes, Justice Peace. Recorded Nov 26, 1729 Libro 315 folio 192, John Higginton, Regr." Joseph is mentioned in the will of his father, Lieut. John Andrews in 1705. He released and interest in his father's estate in 1716-1717. He married Sarah Ring 16 Feb 1680 under the name of Joseph Andrews, Sen. or Chebacco, in Ipswich, yeoman. He made his will 13 Feb 1724/25 and it was proved 5 March 1725 naming his children. His sons John and Daniel were to have the homestead and be executors and pay out their sisters.
