Mahala Jane was born on November 9th, 1818.  Mahala Jane's father was Thomas E. Bicknell III and her mother was Mary Nancy Asbill Reeder.  Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Bicknell and Anne Parks; her maternal grandparents were William Asbell Sr. and Malinda Ross.  She was the third of nine children.  She had four brothers and four sisters, named Thomas E., William Kelly, Harrison, Sylvester W., Sarah, Sabinda Taborida, Lydia and Melinda Emaline.  She had six half-brothers and ten half-sisters, and also two half-siblings of unknown gender, named Martin, Samuel, Johnathon, Aaron, John, Amos, Malinda, Nancy, Elizabeth, Mary Polly, Roda, Barbara, Margarette, Jane, Charlotte, Elizabeth, Child and Child.  She died at the age of 57 in 1875.
