William Benson was born on April 12th, 1889 in StCleer, Cornwall, England.1 William Benson's father was John HENDRA and his mother was Mary Jane ROWE. His paternal grandparents were Thomas HENDRA and Mary BANDS; his maternal grandfather was William ROWE and his maternal grandmother is Ann BLAMEY. He had seven brothers and seven sisters, named John Thomas, John, Nathanial Rowe, Thomas, Frederick, Alfred, Melville, Mary, Martha, Emma, Ida, Louisa, Myrtle Victoria and Candace. William Benson Hendra was born 12 Apr 1889 at St Cleer, Cornwall and was the son of John Hendra and Mary Jane (nee Rowe). It has been said that when he was born it was thought that he was dead and was just left but then his Mother saw his hand move. He, like others in the family emigrated to the USA or Canada. There he married Neota Hoskin (date and place not known) They had five children, Vera, Verna, Orville, Jean and Shirley. (It is thought that Orville died, when quite young, when he was knocked down by a car). The date and place of William Bensons death is not known.
