John was born in 1854 in Mccallinns.  John's father was Henry James ASTON and his mother was Mary CROWLE. He had five brothers and five sisters, named William Henry, Charles, John, Frederick Thomas, Hector Edwin, Elizabeth, Emma, Mary Isabella, Lilly Florence and Ethal Florence.  He was the oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 6 in 1860.
