Andrew was born on June 7th, 1772 in Kettle, Fife, Scotland. Andrew's father was Robert Myles and his mother was Katherine Beath.  His maternal grandparents were William Beath (younger) and Bethea Balvaird. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Robert, William, Bethia, French, Mary and Jean.  He was the third youngest of the seven children.
