Sarah was born in 1716 in Baconsthorpe, Norfolk, England . Sarah's father was John Girdlestone and her mother was Sarah Ford. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Girdlestone (The Elder) and Palgrave Frith; her maternal grandparents were Charles Ford and Unknown. She had six brothers and a sister, named John, Richard, Thomas, Joseph, Henry, Zurishaddai and Dorothy. She was the third youngest of the eight children.-
