Penelope Maud was born in 1869 in Hamilton, Victoria, Australia. Penelope Maud's father was John Johnston Beath and her mother was Rachel Anne Fountain. Her paternal grandparents were David Alexander Beath and Marion Johnston. She had six brothers and three sisters, named David Alexander, William Malcolm, Franz Rentiers, James Wiggins, John Hamilton, George Johnstone, Margaret Jane Wiggins, Ada Mary and Marion Anne Johnston. She was the fourth youngest of the ten children. She died in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.-
