Marion was born on July 5th, 1812 in Newton, Midlothian, Scotland. Marion's father was James Barrowman and her mother was Jean Mucklejohn. Her paternal grandparents were James Barrowman and Elizabeth Vallance. She had two brothers and two sisters, named James, Alexander, Jean and Janet. She was the third oldest of the five children.-
