Katherin was born in 1684 in Newbattle, Lasswade, Midlothian, Scotland and her baptism took place there on June 30th, 1684. Katherin's father was John Barrowman and her mother was Janet Gray. Her maternal grandparents were Abraham (Abraham Gray The Elder) Gray and Elspet Huntar. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Abraham, James, William, Thomas, Janet, Isabell, Elizabeth and Margaret. She was the youngest of the ten children.-
