Lewis was born on October 30th, 1848 in Pennsylvania, USA.1   Lewis' father was Adam Slonecker and his mother was Nancy Bechtell (Slonecker).  His paternal grandparents were John Schlonecker and Elizabeth Strickler (Schlonecker); his maternal grandparents were ? Bechtell and ? ? (Bechtell). He had five brothers and six sisters, named David, George, John, Eli, Adam, Elizabeth, Polly, Mariah, Catherine, Amanda and Emma.  He was the tenth oldest of the twelve children.  He died at the age of 37 on August 8th, 1886.1

Lewis and Sarah were married in a religious & civil ceremony on December 24th, 1871.1   They had three sons and two daughters, named Joseph, Clarence, David, Gertrude and Cora.
