John Harper

John was born in 1891 in Rainton, Co Durham.¹ John's father was John Harper and his mother was Betsy Annie Emmerson. His paternal grandparents were James Henry Harper and Elizabeth Haywood. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, James, Alice, Mary and Sarah. He was the third oldest of the six children.
