William Clift

William was born in 1750 in Cakemore, Worcestershire and his christening took place on July 29th, 1750 in Halesowen, Worcestershire.¹   William's father was James Clift and his mother was Ann Smith. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, Josiah, Dorothy, Mary and Hannah.  He was the oldest of the six children. He had three half-brothers named Thomas, James and Samuel.
