James Butler

James was born in 1885 in Wortley, Leeds, Yorkshire.¹ James' father was James Butler and his mother was Harriet Brooksbank. His paternal grandparents were William Butler and Mary Arendall; his maternal grandparents were James Brooksbank and Caroline Roberts. He had a brother and seven sisters, named Mark, Mary, Caroline, Rose, Florence, Matilda, Nellie and Louie. He was the third youngest of the nine children.
