Katherine was born on March 20th, 1853.  Katherine's father was Sir William Muir and her mother was Elizabeth Huntly Wemyss.  Her paternal grandparents were William Muir and Helen; her maternal grandparents were James Wemyss and Caroline Charlotte Binfield. She had seven brothers and seven sisters, named William, James, John, Archibald, Charles, Thomason Muir, Wemyss, Caroline, Helen, Elizabeth, Margaret, Agnes, Jean and Helen.  She died in an accident or as a result of an injury at the age of 38 on February 1st, 1892.  Her burial was in Roorkie, India.
