Leo was born on January 7th, 1817.  Leo's father was Ferdinandus Pieters and his mother was Isabelle Duyvejonck.  His paternal grandparents were Joannes Pieters and Livina Therese Mestdagh; his maternal grandparents were Joannes Duyvejonck and Brigitta Blanckaert. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Carel, Ivo, Frederic, Eduard, levenloos, Joannes, Amelia and Levenloos.  He was the oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 20 on May 12th, 1837.
