Carel was born on December 27th, 1819.  Carel's father was Ferdinandus Pieters and his mother was Isabelle Duyvejonck.  His paternal grandparents were Joannes Pieters and Livina Therese Mestdagh; his maternal grandparents were Joannes Duyvejonck and Brigitta Blanckaert. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Leo, Ivo, Frederic, Eduard, levenloos, Joannes, Amelia and Levenloos.  He was the second oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 2 on December 27th, 1821.
