Birger was born on November 6th, 1921 in Sogndalstrand, Sokndal, Rogaland,  Norway and his baptism.1   Birger's father was Adolph Andreasson Brandsberg and his mother was Anna Cecilie  Theodstr Eia.  His paternal grandparents were Andreas Andreassen Brandsberg (Stranden) and Rakel Gunnarsdtr  Lauland; his maternal grandparents were Teodor  Olsson Helleren (Eia) and Berthe Gurie  Pedersdtr  Egeland (Heskestad). He had three brothers named Andreas , Thorleif and Reidar.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 82 on January 13th, 2004 in Grimstad, Norway.  He was buried in Landvik nye kirkegård, Grimstad, Norway.

‌Birger and Bjorg were divorced.  They had an adopted daughter named Hilde.

They had an adopted son named Gunnar.
