Mary Virginia was born in 1855 in Rockingham Co, NC.1 Mary Virginia's father was George W. Roberts and her mother was Janette Strong. Her paternal grandparents were James Roberts and Susannah Thomas. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Robert S., James M., George A., William M., Elizabeth, Susan M., Martha Arrena and Lucy J. F.. She was the youngest of the nine children.1 General Notes
