Herman Foster 
Herman was born in August 1885 in Davie, North Carolina. Herman's father was Joseph Henry Foster and his mother was Louise Angelica Smith. His paternal grandparents were Weldon " William" Goode Foster and Zilphia "Silpha" Jarvis. He had a brother and six sisters, named John Kerr, Nola Shell, Ila Ida, Charlotte B., Nannie A, Maggie L and Clara. He was the fourth youngest of the eight children. He had seven half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Joseph William, Joseph W, Arland M, Cleland Miller, Cleland Miller, Alvin W, Alvin, Martha Evelyn, Evelina, Mary Walton, Mary W. and Nina May.-
