George was born on August 2nd, 1886. George's father was Robert Filby and his mother was Mary Evaline Strope. His paternal grandparents were William Filbe and Catherine Speck; his maternal grandparents were Daniel Strope and Mary A. Mitchell. He had two brothers and three sisters, named William, Winfield Lawrence, Alice, Zella May and Clara Foster.-
