Alice was born about 1876 in Pennsylvania. Alice's father was Robert Filby and her mother was Mary Evaline Strope. Her paternal grandparents were William Filbe and Catherine Speck; her maternal grandparents were Daniel Strope and Mary A. Mitchell. She had three brothers and two sisters, named William, Winfield Lawrence, George, Zella May and Clara Foster.-
