Elisha Newton was born about 1835.¹ Elisha Newton's father was Jeremiah York and his/her mother was Margaret Donaldson. His/her paternal grandparents were Semore York and Miriam Beck. He/she had five brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, William Semore, John, Martin Van Buren, Cicero, Adaline, Margaret and Caroline. He/she was the fifth oldest of the nine children.¹
