Caroline was born about 1845.1   Caroline's father was Jeremiah York and her mother was Margaret Donaldson.  Her paternal grandparents were Semore York and Miriam Beck. She had five brothers and two sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Joseph, William Semore, John, Martin Van Buren, Cicero, Adaline, Margaret and Elisha Newton.  She was the second youngest of the nine children.1
