Ernest Ray was born about 1891.1 Ernest Ray's father was Thomas Ray Townsend and his mother was Nancy L. Smith. His paternal grandparents were Morris Townsend and Sarah Cheairs. He had four brothers and a sister, named George Morris, Thomas Oscar, William J., Earl R. and Eva I.. He was the second youngest of the six children.1 -
