Thomas Ray was born about 1849.1 Thomas Ray's father was Morris Townsend and his mother was Sarah Cheairs. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Roderick Townsend and Nancy Permelia Dean. He had a brother and a sister, named Isaac A. and Frances M.. He was the second oldest of the three children. He had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Claudius D., Edward Frank B., John B., James Lee, Fredrick Jackson, Martha E., Nancy V. and Ida Mae.1 -
