Caroline Pengree

Caroline was born on April 28th, 1822 in Screven Co., GA.¹ Caroline's father was Thomas Pengree and her mother was Catharine Waters. Her paternal grandparents were William Pengree and Rebecca Rosetta Downoy; her maternal grandparents were John Hanil Waters and Catherine. She had a brother and seven sisters, named James Marion, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, Nancy, Catherine, Martha and Louisa. She was the second youngest of the nine children.¹
