Thomas was born in 1864.1   Thomas' father was James Graham Gilchrist and his mother was Elizabeth J. McGehee.  His paternal grandparents were Angus Gilchrist and Elizabeth McNeill. He had two brothers and a sister, named Abner, James and Susan.  He was the youngest of the four children. He had a half-brother and five half-sisters, named Angus, Sara (Sallie), Elizabeth (Betty), Kate, Annie and Mary (Molly).  He died about 1880.1
