Joshua Sumner 
Joshua was born on November 20th, 1753 in New Garden, Guilford, NC. Joshua's father was Robert Sumner and his mother was Phoebe Beals. His maternal grandparents were John II+ Beals and Sarah+ Bowater. He had five brothers and four sisters, named John William, Bowater, Caleb, Thomas, Robert, Phebe, Prudence, Abigail and Sarah. He was the fourth oldest of the ten children. He had two half-brothers named John and Charles. He died at the age of 75 on January 4th, 1829 in Jefferson Co., TN.General Notes
