Mary was born on October 10th, 1344 in Bishops Waltham, Hampshire, England. Mary's father was Edward III+ Plantagenet and her mother was Philippa D'+ Avesnes. Her paternal grandparents were Edward II+ Plantagenet and Isabelle+ Capet; her maternal grandparents were Willem III De+ Avesnes and Jeanne De+ Valois. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Lionel+, Edward, John Of Gaunt+, Edmund+, Thomas+, Isabella, Joan and Margaret. She was the third youngest of the nine children.
