John S. was born about 1817 in Muhlenberg Co., KY.  John S.'s father was John Michael and his mother was Sarah Whitaker.  His paternal grandfather was Christian Michael and his paternal grandmother is Maria Barbara Eisenhauer. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Hugh, Whitaker W., Daniel N., Samuel, Cynthia, Elizabeth and Mary Ann.  He was the fourth oldest of the eight children.  He died after 1864 in OK?.

‌John S. and Mary Ann were married in a religious ceremony on September 2nd, 1843.  They had six sons and five daughters, named Samuel, William, Ranson Boone, Noah, Aaron, J. W., Mary `Polly`, Malinda Jane, Martha, Wesley and Margaret.
