Zachariah was a colonel in the War of 1812 and fought at Tippecanoe and River Basin. He was promoted to Brigadier-General from that time until 1824, when he resigned after a misunderstanding with General Desha. He retired to Henderson, KY in 1843. Augustine, in his will, left to son Zachariah "150 acres of land and a negro girl Viner to which I add a negro Boy Tim Milley Child.."
