Sarah was born on October 17th, 1779 in Guilford, NC. Sarah's father was John IV Beals and her mother was Susanna Johnson. Her paternal grandparents were John III Beals and Margaret Esther Hunt; her maternal grandparents are James Johnson and Margaret Cook. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named John V, William, Bowater, Caleb, Jesse, Peter, Eleazer, Margaret and Hannah. She is the oldest of the ten children.General Notes
