William Alexander Bates 
William Alexander was born on November 14th, 1836 in Clark, IL. William Alexander's father was David Bates and his mother was Eliza Eastin. His paternal grandfather was Seth Huron Bates and his paternal grandmother is Sarah X; his maternal grandparents were Charles Smith Eastin and Sarah Swearingen. He had four brothers and a sister, named Charles Seth, Isaac, John Edward, David Sterling and Elizabeth Melissa. He was the second oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 89 on May 15th, 1926 in Turnover, Coryell, TX. He was buried in Bethel Cemetery, Ft. Hood, TX.General Notes
