Maud was born about 1335 in Warkworth Castle, Alnwick, Northumberland, England.  Maud's father was Henry Percy and her mother was Idonea de Clifford.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry de Percy and Eleanor FitzAlan; her maternal grandparents were Lord Robert de Clifford I and Maud de Clare. She had a brother named Henry.  She was the younger of the two children.  She was buried in Cathedral, Durham, Durham, England.

‌Maud and John were married in a religious ceremony in July 1357 in Alnwick, Northumberland, England.  They had a son and a daughter, named Ralph and Eleanor.
